About Us, Warranty, Etc!
Welcome to South West Classic Cars and Westcountry Classics joint website. The site can be accessed by either using www.swclassiccars.com or www.westcountryclassics.com website addresses
We are two family businesses, run by people with a real passion for classic cars, who work closely together mostly buying and selling a wide range of classic vehicles. These range from show vehicles, through good sound useable classics to restoration projects of varying degrees of complexity.
Most of the cars for sale are at West Country Classics site in West Cornwall unless otherwise stated. If you would like to view any please contact Westcountry Classics before you set off to make sure someone will be available to show you the car you are interested in, or take you for a test drive.
We try to maintain a wide and varied selection of classic cars for sale, something for everyone hopefully!
We will always consider part-exchange with other classics.
Delivery can be arranged.
Commission sales will be considered but only for classic vehicles. We will always try to get you the best price we can, but at the same time try to value the vehicle realistically so it will actually sell! Please contact us for further details.
The parts and book list items are at South West Classic Cars in Devon but we are regularly travelling back and forth so collection could be arranged from either end, sent mail order, or in some cases possibly delivered.
Westcountry Classics are also able to carry out servicing and maintenance on most classic cars with a wide range of experience from the 1920s right through to modern day vehicles.
If you are unable to find the car of your dreams you can always let us know and we will see if we can help!
Warranty
We will warranty the cars that have a current MoT when sold for 1 month only from the date of purchase for sudden or catastrophic failure of major mechanical components only, i.e. the engine, gearbox and drivetrain.
Bodywork, paintwork and structure are not covered as these areas will or should have been inspected properly to your satisfaction before you purchased the car. We will always welcome inspections by other people on your behalf.
Electrical components will not be covered, most of the cars are 30 years old and most older it is not realistic to warranty electrical parts that old.
Any warranty work will be carried out by ourselves, or appointed subcontractors. The vehicle will need to be returned to the address it was purchased from, (not the address it was delivered to) at the owners expense. We do however appreciate this can be difficult in some cases, and we will be as helpful as we reasonably can in arranging for reasonably priced transport, but cannot guarentee to be able to help in every case.
We will not pay for any third parties to do work on your behalf, without prior written consent from ourselves. Any unauthorised work carried out by third parties will invalidate any further warranty.
Any warranty work carried out will not exceed the original purchase price of the vehicle, worked out on the basis of our standard workshop hourly rate and including parts and VAT.
In all cases we reserve the right to buy back the vehicle at no morethan the original purchase price (this does not include the delivery cost, which would be deducted at our normal mileage rate). Assuming the rest of the vehicle is in the same condition as purchased a full refund of the purchase price will be made. Any other work/modifications/damage which we feel will detract from the resale value will be taken off the refunded amount
Cars without a current MoT will be sold as projects and as such sold as seen.
Of course with the huge range of conditions and variables in older cars there will be exceptions to these guidelines. In some cases we will do more, and in others some people prefer to negotiate a discount off the price and in such cases it is unreasonable for us to provide a warranty aswell, so the discount may be in lieu of any warranty. Details of any such agreement will be written on the receipt provided and be binding.
When dealing with cars of 30, 40, 50 or up to 100 years old, often with patchy or little history, some components will fail and it is extremely difficult to predict this very often. The cars will also need to be properly maintained, i.e. regular oil and water checks, and regular and appropriate servicing, lack of signs of this may invalidate any warranty.
In all cases if you have a problem please contact us first, we always try our best to provide as good a service as we can, and will often be able to sort out the problems for you. We are also car enthusiasts we want you to use and enjoy your cars, and we have a good reputation to maintain!!
And finally if you have any queries just give us a ring!
Happy motoring
